A little more about it: In the early 17th century, slaves were brought to Jamaica. A group of these slaves escaped into the mountains. They would blend spices and herbs and use them to flavor the wild boars they hunted. This was the foundation for the now infamous “jerk seasoning” that's at the core of Jamaican food.
Ingredients: Salt, Pepper, Allspice, Thyme, Basil, Nutmeg, Chili Powder, Garlic, Onion, Ginger, Cinnamon, Coconut Palm Sugar
How to use Jerk spice blend: Make jerk chicken (figured we'd start with the obvious one), add to meatloaf, toss into mayo for deviled eggs, or mix into sauteed greens like kale or collards.
